Business Software Built Around How You Work

Our own software suite, the platforms we implement for other people, and custom development where nothing off the shelf fits. Built, integrated, hosted and supported by one New Zealand team.

What we do

What is business software?

Business software is the applications a business actually runs on, as distinct from the general tools everybody has. Accounting, stock, jobs, freight, lending, forms and reporting: the systems that hold how your particular business works.

Exodesk does three things with it. We build and support our own suite, the Zinform products. We implement platforms built by other people where those are the right answer. And where nothing off the shelf fits, our developers build to fit.

The common thread is that the same New Zealand team handles the software, the integrations between systems, the hosting underneath and the support afterwards. Software problems rarely stay inside the software, which is why splitting those across suppliers causes so much of the trouble.

Which of these sounds like you?

Most people arrive with a problem rather than a product name. Find the one that fits and it will take you to the right place.

“We enter the same information three times”

Separate systems for accounts, stock and jobs that were never built to talk to each other. Either one system that does all three, or integration between what you already run.

Zinform Accounts · Business software integration

“Our staff still fill in paper forms”

Job sheets, inspections and checklists written out on site and typed up later. Mobile forms that work offline and deliver straight into your systems.

Transsend · Electronic signatures

“Customers keep ringing to ask where their freight is”

No single view of a consignment between pickup and delivery, and no way for customers to check for themselves.

Zinform Logistics · Freight software guide

“Our loan book lives in a spreadsheet”

Lending, arrears and compliance reporting held together by formulas and one person’s knowledge.

finPOWER Connect · Lending software guide

“We have the data but cannot get answers out of it”

Reports that take a day to assemble, and questions about profitability that get answered with an estimate.

Business reporting software

“Nothing off the shelf does what we need”

A process specific enough to your business that every product you look at needs you to change how you work.

Our software

The Zinform suite

Four products built and supported by Exodesk. They work on their own and they work together, which is the point: a job entered once does not need entering again.

01

Zinform Accounts

Business management software with accounting built in. Invoicing and receivables, inventory, suppliers and job management in one system, with automated invoice capture and bank feeds.

Zinform Accounts

02

Zinform Transsend

Mobile data capture that replaces paper forms. Signatures, photographs and location captured on a phone, working offline, delivered straight into your systems.

Transsend mobile forms

03

Zinform Logistics

Freight management from receiving a load through manifesting, dispatch and tracking to invoicing, with a client portal so customers can check consignment status themselves.

Zinform Logistics

04

finPOWER Connect

Lending and finance software from Intersoft Systems, covering loans, leases, revolving credit and investments with compliance reporting and configurable workflows. Exodesk is an Authorised Reseller.

Integration

Will it work with what we already run?

Usually, and this is where most of our development work actually goes. Replacing everything is rarely the right answer, so connecting things properly is the job.

On the lending side we specialise in connecting to third-party credit and electronic verification providers, which is what makes affordability assessment work without re-keying.

More broadly, our developers connect accounting packages, payment gateways, CRMs and e-commerce platforms. Where no connector exists, we build one.

Hosting

Where does the software actually run?

Wherever suits the business, which is a bigger question than it sounds once you consider who is responsible when it stops.

Our software scales from a single PC through to a full SQL environment. It can run on your own equipment, or we can host it, and the same team supports it either way.

That choice matters for more than convenience. It determines where your data physically sits, who patches the server it runs on, and who you ring when the application is fine but the machine underneath it is not.

If Exodesk already looks after your environment through managed IT services, that question is answered by default.

Cost

What does business software cost?

It depends which of the three routes you are on, and the shape of the answer differs for each.

  • Our own products are licensed monthly and scale with users or the size of the operation, with configuration quoted separately.
  • Platforms we implement for others have two figures: the vendor’s licensing, and our implementation and support.
  • Custom development is quoted against a defined scope, which is why the scoping conversation happens before any number does.

In every case both figures are given before work starts, and if the honest answer is that what you have already does the job, we will say so. Each product page answers the cost question for itself.

Questions

Business software FAQs

What business software does Exodesk provide?

Exodesk builds and supports the Zinform suite: Accounts for business management and accounting, Transsend for mobile data capture, and Logistics for freight management. Exodesk is also an Authorised Reseller of finPOWER Connect for lending, and develops custom software where nothing off the shelf fits.

Does Exodesk build its own software?

Yes. The Zinform products are built and supported by Exodesk in New Zealand, which means the people who write the software are the people who answer when it needs changing. finPOWER Connect is the exception: it is developed by Intersoft Systems and Exodesk implements and supports it as an Authorised Reseller.

Will your software work with the systems we already use?

Usually. Integration is a large part of what the development team does, including third-party credit and verification providers on the lending side, and accounting packages, payment gateways and e-commerce platforms more generally. Where no connector exists, one can be built.

Can the software be customised to how we work?

Yes, and that is usually the point. Products are configured around your process rather than requiring you to change it, and where configuration is not enough the development team can extend or build to fit.

Where does the software run?

It scales from a single PC to a full SQL environment, and can run on your own equipment or be hosted by Exodesk. The same team supports it either way, which also determines who is responsible for the server underneath the application.

Can we work from anywhere?

Yes. Both desktop and cloud-based options are available, and the mobile products are designed for staff working away from an office, including offline where there is no coverage.

What does business software cost?

Products are licensed monthly and scale with users or the size of the operation, with configuration quoted separately. Platforms implemented on behalf of other vendors carry two figures: the vendor’s licensing and Exodesk’s implementation. Custom development is quoted against a defined scope. Both figures are always given before work starts.

Do you only work with businesses in Christchurch and Dunedin?

No. The teams are based in Christchurch and Dunedin, and software work runs for businesses anywhere in New Zealand, with site visits where a job genuinely needs somebody present.

Can you support software you did not supply?

Often, yes. Supporting the specialist applications a business already runs is a normal part of managed IT services, and integrating them with other systems is normal development work.

How do we work out what we need?

Describe how information moves through the business now, from an order arriving to an invoice going out. That conversation usually identifies where the double entry is, and whether the answer is a product, an integration or something built.

Describe how a job moves through your business from the order arriving to the invoice going out. We will tell you honestly whether the answer is a product, an integration, or nothing at all.
