Stress-Free IT Support for Your Business
Managed IT, cyber security, cloud, phones and hardware from one local team, for a fixed monthly fee. Technology that stays out of your way so you can get on with the job.
Supporting New Zealand businesses since 1989
One IT company for the whole thing
Exodesk is an IT company with offices in Christchurch and Dunedin, looking after technology for New Zealand businesses since 1989. Support, security, cloud, phones, advice and hardware, run by the same team so nothing falls between two suppliers.
Managed IT services
Unlimited helpdesk, 24/7 monitoring, patching, backup and core security for a fixed monthly fee. Sometimes called outsourced IT, and the company delivering it a managed service provider or MSP.
Cyber security
Email, endpoint and network protection, monitoring and response, dark web monitoring and staff training.
Cloud solutions
Hosting inside New Zealand, Microsoft 365 configured properly, and migrations off ageing on-site servers.
Business phone systems
One business number that reaches your people wherever they are, with the system, calling and handsets bundled.
IT consulting
Independent advice, a costed roadmap and someone senior to think about technology with.
Computer leasing
Laptops, desktops and servers on a monthly term, so hardware stops being a capital decision you keep deferring.
AI solutions
Readiness assessment, staff training, Copilot rollout and governance. Built for habits rather than hype.
Business software
The specialist applications a business runs on, supported by people who understand what they are for.
Not sure which?
Most people arrive with a problem rather than a shopping list. The services page maps the symptom to the answer.
You should not have to think about IT this often
Technology is only supposed to take up your attention when you choose to give it some. For a lot of businesses it does the opposite: the day gets interrupted by things nobody planned for and nobody enjoys.
A machine that will not start. An email that looks wrong. A password nobody can find. None of it is your job, all of it lands on whoever is nearest, and by the time it is sorted the actual work has moved down the list.
Good IT support is not measured by how fast the phone gets answered. It is measured by how rarely you need to pick it up.
Why Exodesk
Why businesses choose Exodesk for IT support
Local IT support
Teams in Christchurch and Dunedin on fixed-cost monthly plans with unlimited assistance. When a job needs somebody on site, somebody local comes, rather than the problem being handed to whoever is free in another city.
Accountability and support
If something goes wrong, it is ours to put right. No hunting for which supplier owns the problem, and no invoice arriving afterwards for the privilege of having had one.
One partner for all your IT
Support, security, cloud, phones, advice and hardware from the same team. Fewer seams, one number to ring, and somebody who can see the whole picture when something odd happens.
- Fixed monthly pricing. Budgetable, and it does not move because you had a difficult month.
- We will tell you what you do not need. Overlapping licences and forgotten subscriptions are common, and finding them is part of an assessment.
- Independent where it matters. Consulting work stands on its own, whether or not you buy anything else afterwards.
Getting started
How it usually begins
Almost always with an assessment, because nobody can quote sensibly on an environment they have not looked at.
- You tell us what is going on, in your own words. A symptom is a perfectly good starting point.
- We look at what you are running, what condition it is in, what is out of support and what nobody has checked in a while.
- You get it in writing, with what would cost money now, what belongs in next year’s budget, and what you can safely ignore.
- You decide what happens next, including deciding nothing needs to. The assessment is a fixed fee and is useful on its own.
Where we work
IT support in Christchurch and Dunedin
IT support Christchurch
Level 1, 85 Riccarton Road. We have provided IT support in Christchurch since 2009, with engineers who can be on site when a job needs hands on the equipment rather than a remote session. More on IT support Christchurch.
IT support Dunedin
Level 3, Bartons Building, 2 Stafford Street. Exodesk started here in 1989 and has provided IT support in Dunedin ever since, with a full local team covering Otago. More on IT support Dunedin.
Everywhere else
Helpdesk, monitoring, security and cloud work all run the same remotely for businesses anywhere in New Zealand, with site visits where a job genuinely needs somebody there.
More than 35 years of New Zealand business technology
Exodesk was formed in Dunedin in 1989 as Willis White & Co, by Chris Willis and Andrew White. We opened in Christchurch in 2009 and have grown into one of New Zealand’s longer-established IT providers.
That length of time is worth something specific. We have watched several waves of technology arrive claiming to change everything, and we have seen which ones actually did. It makes us harder to sell to, which is useful when we are buying on your behalf.
Questions
IT support FAQs
What does business IT support cost in New Zealand?
Most of what we do is a fixed monthly fee rather than hourly billing, so it is a number you can budget. One-off work is quoted before it starts, and an assessment at the beginning is a fixed fee. Each service page answers the cost question for itself, since supporting twelve people is a different job from supporting a hundred. See managed IT services.
Who provides IT support in Christchurch and Dunedin?
There are several providers in both cities and it is worth comparing them properly rather than on price alone. Exodesk has been in Dunedin since 1989 and Christchurch since 2009, with local engineers in both. We have written up what to compare in IT companies Christchurch and IT companies Dunedin.
What services does Exodesk offer?
Managed IT services, cyber security, cloud solutions, business phone systems, IT consulting, computer and hardware leasing, AI solutions and business software. Underneath those sit the specifics, including helpdesk, backup and recovery, business WiFi, cabling and office relocations. See all IT services.
Do you support businesses outside Christchurch and Dunedin?
Yes. Helpdesk, monitoring, security and cloud work all run remotely for businesses anywhere in New Zealand, with site visits where a job needs somebody physically present. The two offices are where the teams sit, not the limit of who we look after.
Does Exodesk provide cyber security?
Yes, and the core controls are included in managed IT rather than sold separately: endpoint protection, email filtering, access control, patching and monitoring. Businesses with more exposure or a compliance obligation often add dark web monitoring, staff training and incident response planning. See cyber security services.
Can you take over from our current IT provider?
Yes, and it is routine. We document the environment before anything changes, agree a handover date, and take over monitoring and the helpdesk on that date. Most of the risk in switching sits in undocumented access rather than in the technology. See how to switch IT providers.
How small is too small?
Most clients sit between five and a couple of hundred staff. Below about five people with nothing critical running on site, an ongoing arrangement may cost more than it saves, and we would rather say so than sell you one. See small business IT support.
How do we get started with Exodesk?
Ring either office or send the form below and describe what is going on. The usual next step is an assessment: somebody looks at what you are running, what condition it is in, and what it would take to support properly, then writes it down. Fixed fee, quoted first, and useful on its own even if nothing follows.
Tell us what is going on
A symptom is a fine place to start. Describe it in your own words and we will tell you what it actually is, what it would take to put right, and whether it is worth doing now or later.
